Runway a/k/a Bravo's Story
I received a call from Judy Heiser from TBVC
Rescue telling me there was a possible
Vizsla in Broward County Animal Control.  He
was approximately 5-7 years old but was
heartworm positive and they were likely to
put him down.  I went to see him and knew
he was a Vizsla right away although I have
never seen a dog in such poor condition.
He was a large male (approx 26") but he
only weighed 39 pounds.  He had been seen
running around Fort Lauderdale
International Airport for a number of weeks
before they were able to catch him.  I
brought him home and started removing
ticks from the poor guy.  Our vet took an
x-ray of his heart and saw that, in spite of
the heartworms it seemed to be in fairly
good condition. She thought that once he
had put on some weight he would be a good
candidate for treatment.  We named him
Runway as a homage to where he was
found and also as word play on  Run-a-way.
He was a sweetheart, good with our toddler,
cat and other dogs and very grateful to be in
a home among friends.  He had a few
accidents in the house but learned quickly
how to let us know he needed to go out.
Michelle Jacobson found a couple named
Bill and Maureen who lived in Gainesville on
a nice sized piece of land and who were
open to the idea of an older male with his
medical condition.  We brought Runway,
now named Bravo, to the Ocala show and
he went home with them for a few weeks to
see how they got along.  The rest as they
say is history.  Thank you Bill and Maureen
for giving this sweet boy a second chance.
